Text focus and editing shortcuts

Understand why normal text editing takes priority over canvas shortcuts.

Use

When a text field is focused, typing, cursor motion, selection, and clipboard commands act on that text. Ctrl+A, Ctrl+C, Ctrl+X, and Ctrl+V keep their text meaning rather than selecting or copying the canvas. Document movement keys do not move objects while you are typing. Ctrl+S and Ctrl+Shift+S remain save actions where available.

Undo and leaving focus

Undo and redo use the active text session when it has text history. Finish the field or move focus before navigating document history. Focused controls also keep activation and navigation keys such as Enter, Space, and arrows. Remapping a canvas action onto a printable key does not make it intercept ordinary typing. See [ Customize keyboard shortcuts ] and [ Undo, redo, and branches ].
