Import and replace images

Use raster artwork as a fitted background or as frontmatter content.

Canvas images

With nothing selected, choose Inspector > Import image and pick a raster file. Select the resulting image background to change Position or Size, or choose Replace image. The image fits its bounds with its aspect ratio preserved; changing bounds does not mean stretching it independently in X and Y.

Supported input and caveats

The raster picker accepts PNG, JPG/JPEG, BMP, TGA, GIF, PSD, PPM, PGM, HDR, and PIC extensions; decoding still has to succeed. Empty, oversized, or invalid image data produces an error. This is raster import, not SVG geometry import or an editable vector drawing.
