Devices

Distinguish a device's shared metadata from its position in a drawing.

Purpose

A node is a drawn occurrence of a physical device, such as a switch or speaker. Its label and slug describe the device; its position and size describe that drawing occurrence. Physical port metadata is also separate from the connector's drawn position.

Shared data

Where occurrences reference the same physical metadata, editing a label, slug, or user field affects that shared device or port, while moving an occurrence changes its local geometry. A copied or placed blueprint is not a promise of shared identity or automatic library synchronization. Review identifiers after reuse and use [ Preview automatic device IDs ] if needed. See [ Device properties ], [ Ports ], and [ Replace a device from a blueprint ].
