Undo, redo, and branches
Navigate parent and last-used child revisions without immediately erasing alternate work.
Use
Ctrl+Z undoes to the parent revision; Ctrl+Y redoes to the preferred, last-used child. History also offers Undo to parent and Redo last branch. Finish active transactions or confirmations before navigating document history. In a focused text field, undo and redo can belong to that field's text session.
Branches
Editing after undo creates a branch instead of immediately discarding alternate snapshots. History shows which branch is the redo path. Retention pruning can remove old entries, so branching is not an unlimited archival system. File saving and autosave recovery are separate concerns. See [ Review and restore a history snapshot ], [ Undo history retention limits ], [ Save or clear embedded undo history ], and [ Text focus and editing shortcuts ].
