Ports

Understand left/right connectors, labels, physical ordering, and cable groups.

Purpose

A port is a connection point on a node's left or right side. Label, Subtext, slug, and cable group describe the physical connector. Its side and offset describe how an occurrence is drawn. Connections leave a port horizontally before turning around the device.

Use

Create ports in a device draft or from the device Inspector. Start connections directly on ports. Ports sharing physical metadata also share grouping and reservations; physical numbering order is not the same as screen position or a temporary table sort. See [ Edit ports in a device draft ], [ Port properties and drawn order ], [ Create and assign cable groups ], and [ Reserve a number for an unused port ].
