Navigate the built-in file picker

Browse folders, create or rename entries, and select open/save paths.

Type an existing directory in the path bar and submit to navigate; submitting an existing matching file path can select it directly. The up-arrow or .. entry goes to the parent when available. Click a directory to select it, then click again to enter. G/C toggles grid and column-list views. With no text field focused, arrows select entries and Enter or Space opens a folder or selects a file. Open File uses Select; Save File uses the File: name field and Save. Cancel or closing the dialog dismisses it.

Manage entries

New folder creates an unused New folder name and begins inline rename. Rename or F2 edits a selected entry; submit commits and Escape cancels the rename. Names cannot be empty, . or .., or contain path separators. Creation and completed renames change the filesystem immediately; cancelling the picker does not undo them. Folder errors report failures. Native picker controls differ by platform. See [ Built-in and native file pickers ] and [ File and export errors ].
