Review unsaved edits and autosaves before replacing the open drawing.

Recover work and switch projects safely

Switch without surprises

Projects is the place to open, preview, search, and create drawings. If the open drawing has unsaved changes, choose Save current and continue, Discard current changes and continue, or Cancel switch. Discard is not a backup operation. See [ Projects hub ] and [ Unsaved work and closing ].

Recover an autosave

Select a recent project and inspect Autosaves. Preview autosave selects a recovery version for preview without loading it as the drawing. Use Compare with file... to examine differences against another file. Recover this version, Recover LEFT copy, and Recover RIGHT copy identify the version to take in their respective contexts. Explicitly save recovered work afterward. See [ Autosave preview and recovery ] and [ Compare two project files ].

Keep independent copies

Use Save As... when you want a separate .wpr path. Export is for delivery, not recovery of edit history. Undo history can be embedded on save when enabled, but retention limits and schema upgrades can remove historical entries. See [ Save or clear embedded undo history ].
