Number cables without losing authored labels

Assign groups, establish physical order, review conflicts, and apply numbering.

Groups and order

Open View > Cable labels. In 1. Groups, select physical ports and assign cable groups. In 2. Ordering, arrange the device and port sequence used for numbering. Sorting a table is only a display change; use ordering controls or dragging to change the saved sequence. See [ Create and assign cable groups ] and [ Physical cable numbering order ].

Preview before applying

In 3. Auto Increment, set each group's separator, starting number, and digit count. Resolve endpoint group conflicts and review previous and proposed values. Renumber existing labels is off by default, preserving authored numbers and gaps. Apply Auto Increment commits the preview only when required choices are resolved. See [ Preview and apply automatic cable numbering ], [ Resolve numbering group conflicts ], and [ Cable separators, starting numbers, and digits ].

Refine the result

Manual lets you edit Group, Separator, and Number / value directly. Label placement controls visibility and offsets; Colors sets rules and individual overrides. Unused physical ports and linked numbers are handled through [ Reserve a number for an unused port ] and [ Link ports to share cable numbers ]. Numbering and label placement are separate operations.
