Project settings versus user preferences

Know which choices are saved in the drawing and which belong to the local user.

Project settings

Settings > Project Settings... contains Project name, style reset, port-offset reset, fonts, common page format, compaction, and drawing defaults. Project name can carry rich-text formatting and supplies the frontmatter project-name token. These properties belong to the editable drawing and participate in project history.

User preferences

Settings > User Preferences... controls interface appearance, size, shortcut hints, navigation path display, inspector layout, file picker choice, undo retention, embedded-history policy, keybindings, and diagnostics for the user. These are not page typography settings. See [ Project fonts and export typography ], [ Drawing defaults and interaction radii ], [ Interface appearance and layout ], and [ Customize keyboard shortcuts ].
